K-series 28mm F3.5: CPL/hood options

I've got a K-series 28mm F3.5 coming from a vendor soon, so I'm curious about what hoods and/or polarizer filters you find work well. My ideal I suppose would be to use a 52-49mm step-down ring so I can be compatible with my other filters/hoods, but I'm not sure how much vignetting I'll get.

Any thoughts appreciated.

I've been using a generic metal "standard" 49mm hood on my M28/3.5, and it works well. It's about 3/4" deep. No vignetting, and controls flare pretty well.

The SMC(K) 28mm has a 52mm filter ring. On a film camera (Full Frame), a 52-49mm step-down ring will cause alot of vignetting. On a dSLR, I imagine a step-down ring will still cause vignetting.

For my SMC(K) 28/3.5, I have used a round 52mm 'wide' metal hood which still caused vignetting. I have recently purchased a K-series 'wide' retangular hood to use on it instead, and on the SMC(K) 35/2.0 [see edit]. With my film cameras, 28mm lenses* and no filters, I still get some vigetting with the round 'wide' hoods, which I have to crop out.

I think the new round 'wide' metal hoods are designed for crop-sensor cameras and are too deep to use on Full Frame.

[edit 6/10/2014]:
It has arrived, and the "K-series 'wide' rectangular hood" I just bought is a PH-52, and therefore is the correct thread size for my SMC(K) 28mm & 35mm lenses.

The silkscreen markings clearly state:
52mm
SMC Pentax 1:2-3.5 28mm 35mm

[end edit]

*for example
SV & SMC-Tak 28/3.5
K2 & SMC(K) 28/3.5

Excellent, thanks for the feedback: those "old school" rectangular hoods (marked, I believe, for the K-series 24mm) are certainly cool looking...hopefully I might be able to turn up something similar.

On a film camera you can use the K28/3.5 with a polarizer and the Pentax 52mm square wide hood with no vignetting.

Thanks for your reply...no doubt there will be some trial-and-error on my part, but a workable solution seems possible.
