Sold my DA70 limited

...so while I really had no complaints about my DA70 limited....it is a really sharp lens, I found that my FA50 1.7 equally as sharp, offers the same effective focal legnth and is faster.
I couldn'tjustify having both lenses. Plus, If Pentax ever comes out with a FF (which I'm beginning to doubt), I can used the 50mm 1.7 as a sharp normal lens.
It was a no brainer for me at least.

It is NOT "the same effective focal length". 70 is 40% more than 50! On APS-C, they are respectively 105mm and 75mm FF-equivalent.

What great neighbours you guys are - prepared to drop everything for a 'loss of LBA' intervention

This what aI love about the US, and Pentaxians - such helpful and neighbourly people....

HI Paul, can you explain how that is calculated? I thought that the DA70 was a true 70mm perspective on the APS-C format, isn't that what the DA was designed for?
In any event...the 50mm will work for me for portraits which is the main reason that I originally purchased the DA70.

Lukulele...the DA70 is somewhere in Maine right now

50mm is a true 50mm and 70mm is a true 70mm. When deciding between the focal lengths on the same camera you shouldn't convert anything. You should only convert if you're comparing cameras with different sized film/sensor(s).

Actually, for me it's the other way around. Having gotten the DA70 about a year ago or so, I am considering selling my Sigma 50 1.4, which I had used for portraits then. Fair enough, the Sigma doesn't get much work these days due to its weight, and still retains some use for low light situations. But many photos I took with the DA70 have that special touch, an incredibly pleasant bokeh, nice colours and rendition. Don't get me wrong, the 50 is still a really, really nice lens, but I find it increasingly hard to justify its presence between the DA40 and the DA70. And from these two, it's the DA70 that I absolutely adore, even though the field of view of the 40 is more convenient to me, and hence I use it more often.

I have both the 50 F 1.4 and the 70 F 2.4. Both good, I usually use my 70 though.

I did a series of shots with my 18-135, taking the same shot at 50 and 70 (along with other FLs). I nearly always preferred the 70mm FL or something wider than 50. 50 is almost never my go-to lens, but I do have some nice MF 50's, because they are cheap and fun.

I wouldn't mind selling my DA70. Haven't touched it since getting the wonderful FA77 and God knows I need the money...
