Lens on loan: Sigma 10-20/4-5.6

A fellow Pentaxian offered to let me borrow the Sigma 10-20 for a week since I hadn't had any experience using a lens that wide before. Naturally, I accepted the offer and here are a few of the first pics...

10mm...

15mm...

20mm...

20mm up close...

10mm inside. I used a flash with this one and that may very well explain the dark corners.

I like the sharpness and color rendition a lot. It's not as heavy as I thought it would be so it would work well with either my zoom kit or prime kit.

Naturally, I'm planning on getting more out and about with the lens during the week I have, so I'm hoping for even better results.

Heather

It's weird with pbase sometimes, if you post just the plain links, and we click on them, I think then the embedded photos start to show up.

I can't see the pics but...

I see you own the Sigma 17-70 already, how do you find the 10-20 in comparision - colour rendition/sharpness - I'm seriously considering complimenting my 17-70 with the 10-20 ?

thanks

simon

Acquired this lens this week. I find the very wide angle does make you think differently about composition and what makes a good shot, but its a lot of fun. You can get very close to subjects and I'll probably should buy a filter to protect it.

Regarding colours, here are a few of the more colourful shots I took today on my first outing trying to get familiar with it

Simon,
I really like both the color rendition and sharpness on this lens. Assuming that I get it, it would be a nice WA compliment to the 17-70. My zoom kit would look like this:
Sigma 10-20
Sigma 17-70
DA 55-300

That should about do it for zooms; primes are another story.

Heather
