Hi ,
I recently bought a takumar 500mm 4.5 and it seems that it was dropped during delivery. the Focus part of the lenses is rotating 360 an it wobbles back and forth for about 3 to 4 mm . I need to disassemble the lens and would like to know if someones has a guide that would greatly simplify the task and more important help me no to ruining this beast of a lens!!! Thanks in advance.

EXACT same thing happened to me - damaged in shipping and has the same problem. After reading through this thread and scouring the internet, I don't know which screws to start with! I don't know how the OP got their Takumar 500 4.5 torn down this far. Where to start anyone?

hi vyoufinder, to take the tankumar apart its fairly simple, in the first page of the post you have an exploded view of the lens. You just have to start from the bootom up i think if its the problem lies in part nb17 the three screws are broken and need replacement. Do you have the K mount or M42 version?

Takumar 4.5 500mm - need Nikon F mount

I have a Takumar 4.5 500mm - with an OM1 mount but I need a Nikon F mount.

Are Nikon F mounts available for this lens?

Thank you.

Similar issue here, the entire focus ring section was wobbling due to a broken screw. Probably caused during shipping due to poor packaging. I had to disassemble and the lens, had to drill and had to find screw replacement.
At first, it seems impressive, but it is surprisingly easy and simple with the right tools.

Anyways, thank you guys for this topic and your insights, it helped me to fix the problem rather than to send back the lens.

Absolutely !!!

It is funny how one screw can alter the entire feel of the lens.

Now that it has been reassembled, it does feel LIKE MAGIC, haha
