Today, my answer is the SMC 17mm f/4 Fish-Eye and the DA40 Limited.
Definitely time to change my answer, now that the smcM85/2 is here. Simply an amazing lens, so that and the 40Ltd are my champs now.

For travelling it would be the DA15 and the FA24-90. Over the years I've bought a whole cabinet-full of classic Ks and Ms, DA primes, and DA zooms, and the FA24-90 still gets the prize for the best combination of practical range, lightish weight and image quality. Don't see many of them around - I'm tempted to pick up another one, if I can find a good one, just in case mine finally wears out ...

My other faves, all of which make it sometimes into the travel bag, are the DA21, M and K 28s, M100, K105, M150. My DA50-200's better than its reputation.

Wow, this thread has shown that there is such a wide range among users and their favorite two lenses. I'd have to say mine are now (with the K-3) the DA*16-50 and the DA*50-135

20-40mm f2.8-4 and 31mm f1.8. Although I think the 77mm f1.8 and the 100mm f2.8 are fantastic lenses, they don't get the same type of usage as the prior two.

If just two it would have to be my "Special Lady” (SMC Pentax-A 50mm F1.2) and "Lady Luck” (SMC Pentax-A* 135mm F1.8).

But it really would be a tough call, if it were four I could be happy all day long be adding "Good Lady” (SMC Pentax-A 20mm F2.8) and “Sweetheart” (SMC Pentax-A* 85mm F1.4) to these other two.

I can answer one or I can answer five but I can't pick two.

Two is such a strange and lonely number, picking one or three is a much easier decision.

FA* 85mm/f1.4 and the DA* 50-135mm/f2.8 - both lenses give exceptional results, and one or the other is always in the camera bag. The DA* surprised me with the quality of rendition when used as a portrait lens. The mighty 85mm, because f1.4. It's saved me at indoor events where the light was too low to use f2.8, and still delivered the shot.

Yes it is difficult to pick just two. I would rather split into two groups two primes and two zooms.

FA20-35 and FA43 although the K85 and new FA135 might be close behind.
