Can someone confirm that there is a sigma 100-300 hsm F4

ready to buy and just want to make sure there is an HSM version and that the Amazon one is the one to get and they didn't miss label it on their site.

I talked to B&H and Adorama and both have the screw drive one.

Sigma HSM on Pentax

After exchanging e-mails with Sigma, I was told that they presently they only plan to enable HSM for Pentax mounts on 50-150 and 70-200. Apparently the "HSM" in the name of all other HSM lenses stays in the name even for Pentax mount, even though the HSM is not enabled. They also implied that they will evaluate the success of these two lenses and then decide whether to enable HSM for Pentax on other lenses, as their Pentax business is rather small compared to more popular brands.

I have one and can honestly say that the lack of HSM is a non-issue. I use it primarily to shoot motorcycle racing and have no problems at all.

I'd like it better without HSM. Everytime that I go out and the AF starts quirking all the animals of the neighbourhood recognize the sound and then gather around and pose for me

I've read on a few of the descriptions of lenses with the HSM the AF doesn't work if HSM is not supported. Why do they state that? Doesn't make all these lense manual focus does it?
I've been eyeballing this very same lens.

It means that they have no coupling with the AF screw drive and rely solely to the HSM for auto focusing. So they need a model that can “communicate” with an HSM motor or else you have to manualy focus. Not all Pentax models can drive an HSM motor (for example on K10D this mean firmware version of 1.3 or newer)

There are two categories of Sigma HSM lenses:

1) Older "dual drive" (screw and HSM) lenses available in many mounts. None of these support HSM in Pentax mount.
2) Newer (not yet released but coming soon) "HSM only" lenses, any of these in Pentax mount will be HSM, and will be MF on bodies that don't support SDM/HSM. Sigma actually lists the Pentax and Sony versions of these lenses seperately on their website. (See how the 70-200 HSM for Pentax gets its own page.) I believe these (as others have said) are only the new 50-150 and 70-200.
