F 35-70 : AF not working after repair

Hey guys.
I got myself an F 35-70 for really cheap, and it had a tiny bit of fungus. I decided to open it up, and i did.
Took off the mount, cleaned the elements, put the contacts back in place, but it into the camera, and...
  1. The camera detects f/3.5 as the maximum aperture during the entire zoom range
  2. The aperture appears on the back screen, but doesn't appear on the viewfinder
  3. The autofocus doesn't work
Do you guys have any idea of what i could have done wrong?
Thank you
EDIT : Also, i think my particular copy is REALLY sharp...i'm a pixel peeper, and i think it's sharp wide open at throughout the zoom range...

Possibly the pin contacts were not assembled quite right. It sounds as if the data pin isn't connecting. Try re-assembling the pins again.

I've got 3 and i can't find a bit of difference between them. They're all sharp over their range and just about equal to my f-50 1.7 @ 50mm

No other ideas except the little comb-finger contacts used on the zoom portion to signal the zoom setting are often very delicate and prone to breaking or misalignment. If you had to dis-assemble the zoom portion that may be your problem. If that is the case the solution is to replace the contacts - either fabricate or obtain new ones.
