Do I need a super tak 135/3.5?

I have not bought anything except some Q lenses for quite some time now, but is happened upon a super tak 135/3.5. To put this in context, I have a SMC 135/2.5, an M135/3.5, a tele lentar 135/2.8 preset and a s-m-c tak 135/3.5 already?

What the #€!! 18 dollars

I've got an auto tak 135/3.5 you can have also, and a focal(sears) 135/2.8, and another sears 135/2.8 macro, and a westenar 135/3.5, and a hanimex 135/2.8, and those are just the 135s that I don't use...

Why buy another lens in this format, you already have an f2.5 a f2.8 and two f3.5's in the same 135mm focal lenght. Think about expanding your horizons, I just bought the Sigma APO f 5>6.3 150/500 DG OS HSM lens (the thing weighs almost 4 pounds) and the sherpa along with it.

Depends on how it renders vs the others. But for 18 dollars, why not?

Far be it for me to discourage active LBA, but no you don't need it. How many 135mm's can you use at one time?

I just took my longest hike yet with the lil'Bigma. Somewhere around 2 miles in the sun with no shade...

For 18 dollars, hmm.... tempting.
But mine sits in the dry cab always.
Just to many nicer 135mm or focal lengths to play with.

Imo, the biggest attraction of the tak 135/3.5 is the reliable performance (esp compared to peers of the same vintage ) and price

I don't think you'd see a lot of difference between the Super and the S-M-C.

The hood is probably worth $18.

The Auto-Takumar or the preset one do have different results to me. I'm not sure about optical formulas, and I can't really describe what I like about the preset. Eight blades, nothing spectacular there. I go back and forth on selling my preset.

The preset has almost no coatings, but with very good optics. That gives its images a distinct flavour. One of the best outdoor portraits I ever took was with a Takumar 135/3.5 preset. The glow it gave to the image of an artist in sun surrounded by greenery is something I have never again had the luck to take.

Just buy more bodies to mount them all on, I believe this is called CBA as opposed to LBA.

Given I own a Ricoh XR2s, KX, PZ1, *istD, K10D, K7D, K5D and a Q, along with an old Nikon film body, I think I still need a few more lenses

Actually considering case and both caps (no hood), I simply looked at it as why not pick it up. Of all the 135's I own, I actually like the tele lentar preset the best for portraits but the K135/2.5 for overall sharpness. The M was bundled with an M28/2.8 for a good price, and the s-m-c tak wilt a set of extension tubes, hood, bit caps, an m42 focusing helix and a bunch of other stuff all for about 30. The s-m-c tak has sticky (slow responding not stuck) blades which don't impact functionality on a DSLR with the adaptor

Yesterday at a flea market I got a spotmatic with 50 1.4, 28 3.5, and 135 3.5 plus cases and a vivitar tc for $10

Last year I bought basically the same exact kit for $100. Kind of funny. I didn't need any of those lens but how could I resist. I told my daughter she can have the spotmatic.

I just bought a full kit with multiple bodies just to get one lens. So at the moment I have enough bodies to mount a lot of lenses. I keep thinking I know I bought them to sell but I COULD just keep them, right?

If I remember correctly Rio Rico's rule was if it cost less than a meal, just buy it.

If it costs the same as a sandwich just buy it.

If it costs the same as a deluxe pizza, think about it.

If it costs more than fancy dinner, ask the wife.
