Would you clean this lens?

I'm on vacation with my family at Legoland. Today the kids played in the water / splash areas and I bravely took my K-30 with my DA 18-135mm zoom lens. The camera and lens got a little wet and the front element has some hard water spots on it. I took a genuine Lenspen with me but left my lens cleaning fluid and microfiber cloth at home. Should I try cleaning the front lens element or just leave it alone until I get home? I might get the lens wet again but I wonder if the hard minerals could be reacting with the coatings. At the same time I'm afraid the Lenspen would drag the minerals across the lens surface and scratch the coatings. Right now I'm leaning toward leaving everything alone until I get home.

Oh, that's easy... Just place the kit under running water, hopefully any hard minerals or whatever microscopic stuffs that might scratch the coating gets washed off. Then proceed to wipe dry..

They're all WR.

Actually you'd want to use something other than tap water. FYI, the water there is chock full of minerals and hard. I'd use bottled water or you're just adding more. Seriously. Water glasses etc, you can see it over time, the scale. You want to use clean, filtered water, not tap.

Take a few test pics and if it doesn't show up, I'd say leave it.

Forget about bottled water.
You never know what tap or stream it came from.

Get some distilled water at your pharmacist's and very gently wipe with dampened, not soddened, Q-Tip.

OK, best (well fastest) bet is to visit an optician and ask him to wet wipe it.

Just run it under the tap, gently, then let it dry, use the brush of the lenspen, then the carbon tip, and stop worrying overmuch. It's not space-grade optics going in a satellite after all

Personally - I'd say since the DA-18-135mm is WR - use some bottled water to at least get any of the water marks off of the lens, and get it dried off before you have any other water marks appear.
Since you're in San Diego area - I'm sure that there's a Wal Mart / Target or other nearby. Pick up a lens cleaner kit. < $10.
The 18-135mm is a nice lens - and should be able to take a little light cleaning.

I did 'clean' the rented DA-18-135mm that I used for this same reason.

Okay guys, I started this fun fest by suggesting OP not use tap water, but that's because I know what the tap water there is like and what it can do to glass. Ever seen a water glass that's been washed in FL for a while? FL tapwater is nasty stuff. Sans a scale cleaner in the dishwasher they're usually ringed with white mineral deposits fairly quickly. Drinking the water from the tap can be rather unpleasant too. I honestly would not clean my lenses camera or eyeglasses either. Better a lens cleaner solution or at least bottled water. Would you want water capable of doing this on your camera lens? I wouldn't.
