I was starting to really like the Sigma 70-300 - got a few nice shots and was getting comfortable with the settings and speed of the lens then it started to show a lot more blue in the shots - in the 180-220 mm range was the worst for this blue effect - Kind of like getting a black and white shot but all in blue.
I took it back to Henry's tonight - figured it might be a bad copy. They were more then willing to exchange it right away, very good service and no hassle, but I just didn't want to try another, so I asked if they had any of the Pentax DA 55-300mm in as of yet and they had just got 3 in that morning. So I said, "Well, you have one less now."
They knocked 50 bucks off the lens and 10 bucks off the UV filter and I paid the difference.
WOW! - Pentax has really put out a sharp little lens here! I am glad I paid the little extra, this is so much better - Very sharp, no PF, faster focus, better feel in the zoom, I think I will be staying with the Pentax lenses from now on. Not that I won't try another Sigma down the road but for the moment I am set.
