Hi everybody. I've a nice F 50mm f/1.7. Its optically great but it makes lots of noise while focussing. Especially when I turn the lens to the ground.
I dont have any experience with repairing lenses, but it sounds like a not very smooth working ball bearing. Is this a common problem? Do you guys know if i can fix this by myself, if yes, how?

i have experience with Fa100/2.8 Macr whitch one piece of sand insaide the lens body. it's easy to repair just send to the Pentax service department and the cost is about 20$.

Only 20$?? Are you sure, I live in holland and I think it will cost at least 50 euro i'm afraid...

I'd bank on the closer to the 50 euro mark.
I know that Gentec (Canada's Sigma distributer) wants around $100 to work on a zoom lens for me.

But then again that's taking it right apart, to clean the elements.

Hm maybe I should taking it apart by myself then... Does someone know where I can find a service manual??

Unless you're very skilled with your hands and have some relevant experience, I would strongly advise you NOT to open the lens up yourself.
I narrowly avoided ruining one once. And it was a cheapo M42 Russian.

hmm im quite skilled with my hands (as a dentistry student), but i've got no experience at all with fixing lenses. So I think I've to live with the noise then...
