Congrats, Buddha! I don't want to rain on your parade, but what is going on in the upper right corner? Are my eyes deceiving me, or is that corner not sharp like the other three? Hopefully, there is a simple explanation for this other than the feared one.

also, I'm calling Mr. Jones out on a fictitious signature. For shame teasing people like that. (15 and 55 ltd.)
The * means I dont have them yet cuz they are not out yet or havent purchased it yet, but they are on either my personal or Pentax's roadmap and will be mine. I'll get the DA70 when I get my tax return or something.

congrats on the purchase.

of the four corner shots, it looks like the upper right is the softest.

did you get it at your local camera store or via internet?
That corner is soft in the original print hanging on my wall, so it is actually a good representation of the image.

Glad to hear it, Buddha. Looks like you got yourself a real winner. Start posting some more examples.

Congrats! Picked mine up on Monday. Haven't had a chance to try it yet as weather has been crappy since (it's snowing right now!!!) but I intend to break it in this week-end, lots of migratory birds in the area right now (if they are not scarred away by this stupid snow...).

Buddha, I have noticed also a slight play in the focusing ring when I purchased it; we check 3 more lenses they had in the store and they ALL felt the same way. Sounds like yours has a bit more though.

Will post soon, if weather cooperates.

Comment on the weight: After lugging around that FA*70-200 F2.8 for years, the DA*300 feels lightweight in comparison!

Boxes and the whole family.

Not sure why some wanted to see the box, well here it is with the rest of the family. Shot with the DA35LTD as I was falling back onto my bed.

PENTAX ZOOMS DA* 16-50 | DA* 50-135 | DA* 200 | DA* 300
PENTAX PRIMES *DA15LTD | DA35LTD | *DA*55 | *DA70LTD

Ha! Did you mis-match lenses and boxes on purpose for 'artsy' reasons?

Lovely lenses, the hoods are HUGE !!

How would you personally rank their performance (in regards to optics and af)?

Yeah, them suckers sure are big. I can rank them for you in terms of usage, the 50-135 is by far my favorite, that range is right in my wheel house. The 200mm comes in close second, fun for the long reach but the 1.1 meter focussing distance also produces some stunning images, I think it has the best bokeh of the lot actually. The 16-50mm and 300mm are tied for third because I havent really given either of them a good go at it just yet. I am shooting an indoor basketball practice at the end of June, I hope to use the 16-200m setup for that. Should be a good indication of their performance.

BJ, I'd be interested in seeing a showdown between the DA* 300mm and the DA* 200mm + Tamron 1.4x TC. Are you up for it?

Great thanks. The 50-135 sure looks like a dream lens.

Wish there were a smaller hood option on some of them, but not at the expense image quality.

Congrats...
