DA* 300mm - slight rattle - is that normal?

I had my DA*'300 repaired recently. Yesterday I had it out, and realized the front part of the lens seems slightly loose. Picking it up I could feel it was loose. I don't recall having noticed this before. Is that normal?

The two I handled recently were tight in every respect, though they had little, or no, time on them.

I haven't noticed my lens showing any looseness.
Mine is pretty old.

Took a bunch of pictures of a turtle, where I was pointing the lens down. All of them were back focused. It is going back....

Mine is a couple of years old and has never rattled.
Good luck with the repair.

No, a "loose" element in any lens is NOT normal. It wasn't properly tightened while in repair. I'd return it (if I couldn't fix it myself) and suggest they pick up the postage.

I think something was not tightend properly, and worked loose. It is the whole front part of the lens in front of the focus collar that has a very slight give - not too different from many zooms. It was sitting in the back of our car on a long road trip - guess the virabations shook it loose.

I had exactly the same experience after a repair.
