Question about fa77 and 50-135

I have decided to take my bonus money and buy a lens or 2 and I have a question.

I have started taking pictures of my son playing sports. I have been mostly using the dfa 100 and sometimes the VL 180. I figured that that I probably would be better served with the 50-135 for this task.

I have LBA bad and I just can't decide what lenses to get first.

Currently I have the VL 180, dfa 100 and the fa43. I plan(ed) on getting the da 200, da 300, 50-135, fa77 and fa31. I'll most likely sell the vl 180 after I buy the 200.

Wow now that I look at it that is a lot of lenses. Anyway So my question is -- If I get the 50-135 given its reputation does that make the fa77 redundant? My next class will be 10 weeks of studio lighting and portraiture but I like to shoot a bit of everything. Animals, my kids etc. I guess for my next class it might be wise to get something that works best "in studio" Thanks for your thoughts.

No, I dont think so, if used for its proper intent IMO. The FA's are great portrait lenses, their tonal representation is top notch and just sharp enough. The AF isnt fast enough for sports focussing either. The 50-135mm on the other hand is just brutally sharp, I'd never take portraits with that guys, too much cleaning up to be done later on, but with the SDM and f/2.8 it is a great option for sports.
