why

why does'nt the likes of sigma and tamrom make more lenses for pentax cameras, saw a test in a recent mag on macro lenses.the pentax one was the dearest but came out poorly in iq,etc, yet tamron and sigma which were cheaper had better iq,but only fitted canon ,nikon etc.

Which lenses where tested?
All macro lenses on the market today are very good, so it's very small difference in IQ between them.
Tamron and Sigma has macro lenses for Pentax (but not all version they have).

Tamron is a different story, but almost every recent Sigma lens is also available for Pentax, so we should be thankful

Unfortunately not the interesting stuff though .... like the 50-150mm OS, 120-300mm OS, 150mm OS Macro or 180mm OS Macro

Pentax bodies include the shake reduction system,
so there's no need to drain the batteries or decenter the optics with OS.

Yup, it would certainly be nice if either of those macro lenses were available.

The mag must have gone hunting for a bad copy since the IQ of the pentax 100wr is superb. It has a 9.64 user review rating. The only thing it lacks is an autofocus limiter and and aperture ring.

Having OS (or not) makes very little difference if they don't produce the lens in Pentax mount to begin with.

I have to say though that the two Sigma lenses I do have (70-200mm f2.8 OS and 50-500mm OS) are much nicer to use when compared to Pentax SR due to the steadier image through the viewfinder. I would imagine that would be a benefit when shooting macro as well.

Sigma can barely cope with the demand for some of their new lenses, constantly back-ordered, and Tamron is partly owned by Sony who probably have a say in this.

I'd like the Tamron150-600 myself. I probably couldn't afford the Sigma 120-300 f/2.8 if it were in Pentax mount.
