Another lens identification thread

Bought some gear on eBay and this lens looks to be in the kitty but I can't work out what it is. It is obviously a macro lens. By size and shape I am thinking it may be an A100mm F4? Anyone able to provide more of an insight, just from this picture?

What's written around the ring surrounding of the front element, if anything. If Pentax, something will be written there. Also, A(P) on the aperture ring doesn't look to be Pentax. Focus looks to be the wrong way round as well. So me thinks not Pentax.

Just a wild guess, but does it have a Ricoh pin on the mount?

No idea... Haven't got it yet. And considering the trouble I have had with this seller I am not 100% of actually getting it. This is the only picture of it other than one from above and too high to see anything (has a lens cap on).

Macro prime lenses don't have a "Macro" position on the focusing ring. My guess is that it's a push-pull type "Macro" zoom lens from some third-party manufacturer.

It look to have a (A)P setting meaning made for Ricoh, so watch out for the infamous Ricoh pin. The aperture looks to possibly go to 2.8.

I'm not sure, but this looks like the 135mm Sears...

I think you might have it there.... Looks like I don't have a great deal to look forward to. Oh well. I was buying this lot for the camera anyway. The lenses were a bonus.

It looks like the last distance before "Macro" is 1.1 meters. The "Macro" seems to be marked 1:11. It is certainly some sort of push-pull zoom as you can see the 70 marked on the right side. Probably a 70-200 with the "Macro" at the 200 end being closer than 1:11 at 70.

I agree with boriscleto. It is probably a 70-200mm or 70-150/180mm zoom. Many of the these had the closest focus stop labeled "macro" - my Kiron 80-200mm zoom is so marked liked this (in orange). "Macro" meant that these lenses could focus under 1 meter (according to Modern Photography back in the 80s) and it was a marketing ploy to call it "macro".

It does appear to be for Pentax/Ricoh with the "A/P" setting. The location of the aperture lever and red alignment dot on the mount all suggest this. Heed the advice about the dreaded "Ricoh Pin" before mounting.

It looks to me that the marking to the right of f4 is 'KR' not 2.8 which would tend to confirm this is some third party lens for a Ricoh camera. You'll need to unscrew the mount and remove the little pin that you don't see on a Pentax mount (which otherwise tends to catch in a Pentax body's autofocus screwdriver recess and make the lens extremely difficult to get off the camera).

The lens is with a K1000 along with another small lens which I will assume is probably a 50mm of some variety.
