You know your lens isn't sharp when

,,,you nickname it Salvadore Dali

... your pictures encourage viewers to get their eyes tested

... it makes you reach for a K85/2.2 soft to get sharper images

... you start to think that CaNikon might be a better option!

You know your lens isn't sharp when you try to stab someone and it just bounces off.

Hmm, that didn't sound so dark in my head.

You know a lens is not sharp when you'd swear you've seen exactly the same lens on eBay four times already from different sellers.

You know your lens isn't sharp when it's your birthday and your six gifts from friends and family are all sharpening plugins, some the Extra Pro Extended Miracle versions.

You know your lens isn't sharp when you find that the helicoid grease, in fact, has not separated and flowed onto an element.

You know your lens isn't sharp when you keep trying to find the peak focus of a manual lens with LV and 10x magnification but just can't figure out where the point of best focus is.
Unfortunately this happened!
This sounds like my Sears 80-200mm wide open.

Still amazingly fun to use.

You know your lens is not sharp when there is a seemless transition between the subject to the bokeh.

You know when your lens is not sharp when you read multiple reviews and think there was a conspiracy to interchange bokeh and sharpness scores.

I'll have to go and Google that name. I've heard of Tom Sawyer.

She's a newscaster in the U.S. who has had a long, successful career. When her show went high def a few years ago, after the first segments aired viewers couldn't help but notice the network started shooting her with soft focus lenses to minimize seeing her wrinkles, not uncommon when shooting mature actresses. But it was so weird suddenly seeing her with this maximum effect gauzy blur that it became all you could think about while watching her, and worse it backfired because it became the first topic that came up in conversations about her.

So the Ken Burns effect in video is a still image that slowly travels around and using an excessively soft focus lens is now the Diane Sawyer effect.
