DA* 16-50 in the American West

.

I vote for the DA* 16-50 as the #1 vacation lens choice.

My 16-50 took a quick road trip through the West when we decided to
drive back home from California rather than fly.

I highly recommend the drive through Nevada, Utah, and Colorado on the
way to the midwest or East from California. Everyone should find the time for
that road trip at least once in their lives. The American West is truly beautiful.

Here are some shots taken by the 16-50 during the trip - These were taken
in Utah (Zion area) & Colorado (Rockies - Vail, etc.) (All the snowy Rockies
shots were taken from an open passenger window while my wife drove!)

Infinity focus is exceptional, and the lens's resolution really shines here.
The 16-50 is so worth it, IMO.

(NO PP except for a one-click contrast adjustment on several in Picasa.)

Look at the detail in the pines on the right, and I love the shadows on the snow

That last shot shows our rental - I took a quick hike up an outcrop to get the
valley. The wind was around 40mph up there.

Very beautiful colour and scenery you have captured here.

This zoom is in deed very convinient and I usually ended up using this zoom the most during travel. It is also so weather resistance that I could hike or walk in the hills with no concern about the rain (I put a water resistant filter on where the droplets would just slip away from the filter glass as soon as it touches the surface)

Nice shots - great color!

Roentarre - what weather resistant filter are you writing about? Seems like a great idea!
Cheers

Thanks, all. Note that there was no color enhancement of any kind - that's the natural mineral beauty you see there.
I'm so glad the camera/lens combo can truly capture the color as it was.

that really impressed me about these shots - the colors in the desert can be very subtle

All of the previous were uncropped - Going to post some crops from the snowy drive
through the Rockies to show a little more detail. Note that these were jpegs taken
from a moving car through an open window!

look at the detail in the foreground pond and the detail back on the highway

tight crop:
