The absolute sharpest lens I own in K mount would be the Pentax FA*200mm f/4 ED [IF] Macro. The SMCP-FA 300mm f/2.8 ED [IF] and the SMCP-A 400mm f/2.8 ED [IF] and SMCP-FA 31mm f/1.8, FA77mm f/1.8 and SMCP-K 50mm f/1.2 are all worthy of mention.

Of all my lenses, the Tamron Adaptall-2 SP 90/2.5 Macro 52BB with 1:1 Extension mounted, but the OP asked for Pentax.
When I finally get it on Tuesday* it will likely be my sharpest lens as well.

*currently being carried by bicycle courier cross country from Portland, OR.

I'm with Norm, I generally go pass/fail on lens sharpness. My sharpest lens when used wide-open is the DA70. But when stopped down a bit... either the DA70 or the Tak 200/4.

DA Ltd 70mm. Probably most of the shots I've taken where I've wowed myself have come with the 70.

Pentax branded, my F50 f/1.7. I need to check, by I think the new Sigma 18-35 might be sharper.

I'm in the same camp as Norm and Dave. All my lenses are sharp enough, and most are blisteringly sharp stopped down a bit; after that, there are other characteristics which matter far more.

For sheer resolving power I would probably give the prize to the DA*55. Might that be because it becomes maximally sharp so far from the point where diffraction starts degrading the image quality?

Overall the FA 50/2.8 Macro gets my vote.

The A 50/1.4 and the FA 35/2 certainly have their moments too.

For wide angle shots, the FA 20-35 always impresses.

I have the DA 35 LTD and DFA 100 WR and both are sharp. I'd also have to put the DA* 300 in the ring regarding sharpness. I would have to do some thinking about it regarding some of my manual focus lenses.

A quick look at photozone suggests the sharpest lens you can get in K-mount is the Sigma 30/1.4 EX/DG. The edges are a different story. The FA43 looks to be second place in measured sharpness.

Regardless, its a Sigma and not a Pentax.

Any 50 is sharp enough, as is any prime macro.
Even my F35-105 (yes F, not A) is sharp enough in good light with a proper HOOD attached.
The only lens I had that wasn't that sharp was my tamron-popular branded spiratone 400/5.6.

I would like to believe that the mythical FA*200/4 macro would be the winner here...
