Problem with M28/2

I recently picked up one of these, and took it out last night to shoot around town after dark. Turns out, mine is quite susceptible to flare or ghosting from bright light sources in the frame. I don't find much in the reviews that this is a problem, but it's also a rare lens. Is it a problem inherent to this lens, or is it fixable?

I'll post an example later, but I think this is the worst I've seen.

Was there a filter on the lens?

No filter, no glass in the adapter, which also has baffles. It's a high quality "dumb" adapter. No hood either, so I'll check if that'll make a difference in the coming days. The front and rear elements are clean, but there's some junk visible on one of the interior surfaces.

Sounds like you are doing the right things. My guess is that this leaves two main possibilities. One is a fault in the lens. The other is reflections between lens elements and the sensor. Film is much less reflective than sensors, so older lenses were not necessarily designed to prevent such reflections. Sometimes a lens will work OK with one sensor but not another. I've run into this before; most recently with my K20 vs my A7r. It might be worth comparing results with your K30 vs the NEX.
