Pentax FA 28-70 $2500

I had been hoping the Pentax lens buying frenzy was subsiding. Then I saw that a FA 28-70 f2.8 just sold on Ebay for $2,500 US!
For those who want to see for themselves: eBay: Pentax FA 28-70mm F/2.8 AF Pro. Lens K10 K100 IstD LN!! (item 140077599931 end time Jan-28-07 22:32:02 PST)

That is twice what a FA 80-200 f2.8 sold for in December on EBay. I am rather speechless...Now that the US housing bubble is deflating, maybe Pentax gear will be the next hot investment!

Edit by Mo: the item was actually sold for $1800 here: eBay: Pentax FA 28-70mm F/2.8 AF Pro. Lens K10 K100 IstD LN!! (item 140080471865 end time Jan-29-07 17:48:04 PST)

I bought all of my FA* lenses by August of 2006. Still not cheap, but geez, that was almost $1200 more than what I paid for my FA* 80-200/2.8...

Bottom line - the K10D and it's subsequent attention from the media, etc., renewed interest in Pentax as a DSLR manufacturer...

Cheers,
Marc

That's actually not the winning price...

I've been contacted by the seller that the winning bidder could not pay, and therefore the lens will go to me (for a lower price, hopefully).

The bidder that entered $2500 actually made a typo, so he won't be paying.

The lens will go to me for substantially less
If you are serious...congratulations; otherwise you may call me gullable.

That is insane. How much is this lens new. Or should I say was this lens new. That is still a ton of cash.

I'm serious...

It was about $1100 new, but this is some of Pentax's finest glass.

Congratulations and enjoy. If you have a chance, would you share some photos and post a review over in lens review section?

Regards,
Erl

Last lens of the year for me...lol.

I'll definitely post some pics as soon as I get to use the lens. It'll be in by Thursday.

Nice one Mo! That is definitely one of Pentax's "big guns" in that range. Can't wait to see it bolted on your camera. Better yet, can't wait to see some photos!

Oops, I must have missed the ebay listing altogether...

It seems like a great lens.

Not sure how different this lens will be comparing to Da* 16-50mm f2.8
