LBA may have payed off

I went to ebay a few days ago originally just looking for a low cost wide, good quality wide angle lens. Of course, after some searching, I had bid on 5 auctions, of which I only really needed to win one to get the lens I wanted. Well I won two of the auctions, and for a lot less than I had expected.

So, for about $85 total after shipping I'll be getting an ME Super, 2 Vivitar MF 28mm 2.8 lenses(1 of the A variety, and the other a mystery until it arrives), and a Vivitar PKA 2x Macro Focusing TC. Only problem is they're all as is, and even though I should have, I didn't ask for extra pictures or anything. Hopefully luck will be on my side and everything will be in good condition. If that turns out to be the case I'd say I got a pretty sweet deal.

I haven't had too many problems with lenses off eBay. Usually, I just need to clean them a bit with some Eclipse and a Pec-pad. It sounds like you got a great deal!

From the pictures available everything looked alright, except the ME Super has some wear and tear from normal use, which is fine with me. I'll probably use it just to get back into shooting film. It's been a few years since I've even touched the stuff. Being a broke college student for most of the past 5 years was sort of prohibitive of using film, so I stuck to a little digital P&S I have, and more recently my K10D.

I've already got a Vivitar 2X Macro TC, but it's the PK version, so I'll probably sell that, and I may sell one of the 28mm's depending on how much I like them. If I do I should be able to make back almost all the money I spent, which would be really nice.

That is a good deal. If you were so inclined to sell it, you could get at least $85 for the macro TC alone.

Way to go.

Thanks. I actually looked at your marketplace sale before buying it.
I was sure someone was gonna come along and bump the price up at least a little bit, but each auction had only three bids, I believe, and two of them were me. I guess even now, some stuff just flies under the radar on ebay.

Now it's time to let the LBA subside for a while. Before these ebay purchases I had already bought a Lester A. Dine 105mm and the Pentax FA 50 1.4 in the past month, along with the Vivitar macro converter I mentioned earlier. I'll have plenty to keep me busy, I just need to stay away from the marketplace and ebay for a while.

That is a great deal. Those 17mm's go for a pretty penny. Have you received it yet to check out the condition?

If anyone's interested I just posted a thread to sell my P/K version of the Vivitar 2x Macro TC in the marketplace.

I got 1 of the 28mm 2.8 Vivitars that I won yesterday. Unfortunately, although the seller had listed it as being for Pentax, it was actually a Nikon AIS mount. So, I sent it back and got a refund. The other auction with the ME Super, other 28mm, and the 2x Macro TC should arrive tomorrow, and at least I know those are all K mount.

I got the shipment with the items from the second auction today and everything is great.

The Vivitar 28mm, which is the item out of the lot that I was mainly looking to purchase in the first place, works well and is in very good shape. It's barrel is largely plastic, but I dodn't really expect it to be otherwise. I went out today and took some pictures, and although I haven't been able to take a look at them except on the LCD of my K10D, they look to have turned out alright.

The Vivitar 2X Macro TC is also in great shape, but I've decided to sell it since I already have a 105mm macro lens. I may be regretting it because I took some pictures at 1:1 using it and my FA 50mm 1.4 and they turned out surprisingly well. A lot sharper than I would have expected and the color is good too. It's up for sale in the marketplace for anyone interested.

I just glanced at the ME Super and it looks pretty good. I can't wait to put a few roll of film through it and see how it does.

The lot also came with a nice 49mm Pentax Skylight Filter which is in great condition.

So, even though the other auction was a big disappointment, this one turned out to be quite nice.
