Sigma 150-500mm F5-6.3 DG Where is it???

Any news on the availability/price on this lens??? Also, I see at Sigma's site they state this: "If the camera body does not support HSM motor, AF does not work." Pentax does not use the HSM motor drive correct, if so, then this new lens mounted in Pentax will only be good for manual focusing???

Any info on this would be great!

Thanks

Sdm = Hsm

Sigma uses the term HSM for all their in-lens motors. What they mean is that if your camera only has a screw drive then this lens will not work.

Unlike the 16-50mm and 50-135, sigma is not going to be putting two different focus mechanisms in its lenses.

...so does this mean that the 150-500mm made for pentax will not incorporate the HSM motor and thus the standard auto focus mechanism work for the K10D??

This lens WILL have the HSM motor which will properly autofocus on the K10D/K100D Super and all later models. I have NO idea when it will be released.

The 120-400mm is just now coming out for Canon, followed soon by Nikon. At some point the 150-500mm will be released for Canikon as well. Hopefully Pentax will follow soon thereafter.

On the one hand, I applaud Sigma for supporting Pentax (especially implementing HSM) and announcing a slew of HSM lenses back in January. On the other hand, I'm dissapointed that these lenses seem to be a long time coming.

Hang in there Pentax folks!

I'm looking at either the 150-500 or the 120-400 (for Canon though). Early reports on the 120-400 are somewhat mixed, but I still think for $800, they look decent enough.
I just preorded a Sigma 120-400mm OS at Amazon - Canon Digital Photography Forums

The Canon 100-400mm f/4-5.6 IS is ~$1400, so the Sigma is ALOT cheaper!

Here it is!

Online Camera Lens Rental for Canon, Nikon, and PENTAX Cameras

Although already rented out... I did email Ilene and she said it was there and she was looking at the box, but the next day it was sent out.
