Ok you got me I already called back the lady and said I would take it. From what she's told me it was her father's, who just passed away, probably why it is priced so cheaply. Anyways I am gonna have a good look at it before I hand the money to make sure everything is good with the lens. I still have some 7 months before I leave for another trip (South-east Asia) so I guess I can play with it enough and see if it's ok to carry in a backpack. If not I might keep it just for the sake of having it when I go on a safari next year and buy the 55-300 to have something lighter and WR to carry around
