Old Tamrons: compatibility between Adat-A-Matic, Adaptall, Adaptall-2 rings

I could not find a definitive answer, and i never had the chance to experiment myself.
What's the degree of compatibility between older Tamron lenses and the (relatively) newer Adaptall-2 adapter rings?
I often find on Ebay some old 200-500mm f/6.9 Adapt-A-Matic zoom, but all of them have the wrong adapter!
I own a few Adaptall-2 rings: two PK, one PK/A and one for the Spotmatic ES-2.
I don't think there would be any advantage mounting the adapter with electric contacts, but i'm unsure about the compatibility with the other two.
IIRC the old adapters had just one tab, with a corresponding indent on the side of the lens mount, while the Adaptall-2 lenses/adapters have two.

I think the informations about the compatibility between different generations of Tamron lenses and adapters would be quite useful for many forum users, present and future ones.
Any detail and first-hand experience is appreciated

cheers

Paolo

Adapt-A-Matic lenses are not compatible with Adaptall adapters. There is no K-mount Adapt-A-Matic as the mount was discontinued in 1973.

adaptall-2.org is a good source of info about Adaptall and Adapt-A-Matic lenses.

There are thread here and there about Adaptall...

The 200-500? I'm sure it's a Purple Monster...

+1 - completely mechanically different...adaptamatic mounts are held on by a screw sleeve, the adaptalls are a bayonet.
but having said that, I have in my project box an adaptamatic miranda mount, and a 52mm Pk reverse ring that fits into the cut down body of the miranda mount, the assemblage a yet to be completed adaptamatic pk mount! I'll let you know as and when..

Thanks for the infos.
So it's the Adaptall (1) which has one tab vs the two tabs of the Adaptall-2!
Now i remember...
I get that the only way to mount the purple fringe monster is to find an Adapt-A-Matic M42 adapter.

cheers
