Da 12-24 vs. Samyang 14 size

I've looked up the dimensions of these two lenses, which have the diameter almost identical and the length of the Samyang about 1.3 in. longer than the Da 12-24. I'm not sure, however, if the Samyang dimensions include the fixed lens hood. I assume the Samyang length includes the hood and the Da 12-24 does not. Can anyone confirm this? Or, even, better, anyone with both lenses mind posting a shot of them to compare the size?

Thanks!
-Brandon

I think the main difference of practical significance is the front element. It's huge on the 14mm and this doesn't accept standard filters. The 12-24mm is almost flat in the front by comparison (because it's 1 stop slower and covers a smaller image circle). And yes, dimension specs are without detachable hoods but with built-in hoods. Otherwise the lenses are comparable, though with the hood reverse-mounted the 12-24mm will require a wider slot in your bag.

I don't know about the size differential. My 12-24 is large and heavyish. But the images taken with this wonderful lens are top notch.

Just measured my Samyang 14mm f2.8. With cap on, it is 10cm from front to the camera (so, you can add lens cap if you need a storage size). And the diameter of the lens cap is 9cm. The hood cannot be removed anyway (at least not on my version, the latest 14mm cine version might have removable hood). Its a good lens, just make sure you get a good copy. The main draw of course is the price - the 14mm costs less than any rival lens, especially considering the aperture. But if you are new to ultra wide angle photography, maybe the zoom lens would be a better choice, because it allows much flexibility.
