Very pleased with the Epson V550 photo scanner. Glad I went this route, I can't imaging getting better quality using just my camera. Thank you everyone for your input!

Yep, the proper tool for the proper job. You probably would end up with the scanner anyway after that headache with shooting.

Yes, IF they will fit in the scanner, and there are not too many of them. I needed to photograph a disintegrating set of scrapbooks (some 400 pages way too big for a scanner) with historic magazine and news photos from 1900 era. It was the reason I bought my K5. I used my M50/1.7 lens and a tripod with the pictures against a wall. The results were perfect. For smaller projects the scanner is fine.

I think Jatrax is right on this one -it is a scanner job. That being said back in the film era I used my M 50/4 macro for copy work. Placed on a copy stand it was perfect for this application. Macro lenses are designed for flatness of field and the M 50/4 really shone in this sort of work.
