Tamron 18-200mm distortion? - and alternatives?

with my recently acquired *istDS I had bought a Tamron AF18-200 f3.5-6.3 XR DiII

I have noticed quite strong distortion at 200mm, see:

and another

is this normal?

I still have the opportunity to change it, so I wonder if I can get a considerable quality improovement for not much more money.
If opting for a 2 lenses instead, which 2 lenses would you recommend for a low cost set covering 16mm ( max. 17mm ) to 200mm?

Sigma 17-70mm + ?? ( have not yet llokked into this range )
Tamron 17-50mm + ??
Pentax 16-45mm + ??
....
I guess there will be answers to this question in previous threads though..I shall search..

thank's a lot for any opinion / hint

thank you,
Andreas

distorsion is normal in this super-zoom but you can use a software, for example "PT lens"

but i read Tamron 18-250mm is better that Tamron 18-200mm.
try 18-250mm!

tamron 18-250 is similar to pentax 18-250 (pentax lens has SMC)

Tamron 17-50 f2.8 is good.
