Ouch. Hopefully it is not one of your favourite lenses.

You could list it for auction and describe the lens as having "...minor cleaning marks on the front element...shouldn't affect IQ" (just kidding)
I see you shop on shopgoodwill.com

Somewhere there is an article which shows that even with a front element that is horrifically damaged, you can still get surprisingly good images.

So, in return for all the good advice we have given you on how to perform a Ricohpinectomy, please post a couple pictures through the lens. (After you remove the pin, of course.)

Ok, I will look into removing the pin.

I haven't performed the surgery yet. Mostly due to a lack of free time. But I do have an adapter for my Oly Pen camera for K-Mount lenses, so I just plugged it in there and shot a few quickies. The result is intriguing enough to make me actually want to convert the lens for use on my K20.

The images didn't come out as good as I would have expected based on the other article. I'm thinking that an APS-C sensor would use more of the image circle than m43, so that might fare better. My only rationale is that the center of the front element is worse than the edges, so I assume that the center of the projected image circle would also be the worst part. But I am not an optical engineer so I could be wrong about that.

But thanks for sharing the results!
