No worries I am still just getting started with this hobby. I'm going to be getting a -A 1:2.8 in the mail to play with and I'll start from there to figure out what I would need next..... also looking at the lens roadmap these seems to be a DA55 SDM on the horizon somehwere.....

At least that is what the listing had said. No picture of the lens though... I only paid $30 w/ shipping for it though. So even if it is a 1:2 and not a 1:2.8 Macro I don't think I overpaid. It is a lens I expect to use to force me to understand the fundamentals of photography. It should be coming with an old body attached to it

MrApollinax: That's acutally a good strategy, I would do the same if i start all over when I get into photography.

Thanks for the encouragement! I've actually only used P&S cameras up until now. So having to learn to think for myself when it comes to pictures and to be able to creatively use the lenses to manipulate a scene is very appealing to me. Overall very fun stuff!

Using manual lenses are so much more fun then the USM HSM ISM IS DA AF SDM ULTRA ZOOM TRINKET lenses. It's a whole other game, you have to work a bit for your picture. Since I got my first manual lens, I have not attached any of my modern af zooms. I regret getting the Sigma 18-50/2.8f, it could have bought me quite a few good manual primes.

Whew, MrApollinax, if you had posted a link to someone selling a F* 300/4.5 for $450 after I just bought the DA* 300....I'd have shot myself:-). Although I now fully expect to see some great deal like this..................now.

that was the same thing that happened to me. now the only zooms I have are 2 manual focus A series zooms, and they hardly get used.
