Well, if you really do want FF 12mm, you are looking at some pretty extreme glass. Plus you will either have to accept a slow aperture or go for a prime. Sigma 12-24 is one option - equivalent to the APS 8-16mm. No chance of using a filter, or popping it in your bag "just in case". Both are discontinued in Pentax mount. No doubt due to the 15 limited taking all the sales.

I am also looking for a ultra wide angle for interior shots. The best I could find was the Samyang 10mm f/2.8 at Buydig for U$400. I read some reviews and it seems corner sharpness doesn`t get very good even stopped down. sigma 8-16 is too expensive and I already have the DA15 which I plan to use. I am going to do some tests to see if I can get away with the DA10-17 difishing it.

a couple of points here

you dont need as wide a lens if you use film and get a full frame lens

as for the size of the front element, this is a function of lens design not all ultra wide have big ones, but ......

For a cheap ultra wide the samyang 14mm is not bad but has some barrel distortion and it performs well in direct light

My vote would be for the SMC Pentax-A 15mm F3.5, for reviews follow the link.

Looks like that Samyang 14mm will suit my needs very well, also DA15ltd. Just needs to narrow down which one. I might add also the new Samyang 10mm afterwards.

Does anyone owns DA15ltd and Samyang 14mm? How they will compare with each other?

I have mixed feelings about that one... Never had one in my hands but was reading a lot about it and looked at the pictures. Not many of them on the market and very expensive. I looked also for the Pentax K 15mm 3.5 and it looks that ones with aspherical element is a go but not many of them there, speak collector prices probably.

If using film and scanning is an option then I would recommend one of the 18-35mm variants out on the market. They were sold under names like Tokina, Vivitar, and Promaster. Even Pentax had a FA-J version of it.

I will be using only Pentax digital DSLR (have also a Nikon SLR). I do not like to switch to Nikon (love Pentax ergonomics), also Pentax colors are closer to true colors than Nikon, Canon being worst. The only advantage is that Nikon and Canon offer a FF camera. I know D645 is excellent but do not have necessary change now. One day maybe.

Or the excellent FA 20-35 f/4. Hopefully all these lenses will attract more interest if Pentax will go FF in a not-to-distant future.
