More shots with DA* 300mm please!

For all of you lucky enough to have in your possession the spankin' new DA* 300, if you would be so kind as to post more photos when you get the chance to shoot with it? I'm really liking what I'm seeing, but I'm hoping this weekend will result in a lot of birds, bugs, botanicals and beauties @ 300mm posted here.

Doesn't need to be anything fancy - sometimes I find that I can really judge the quality of a lens by how good the super-casual snapshots come out looking.

This needs to be a 300 weekend! The forum is depending on you!!

Thanks in advance, I (and the pining-for-but-300-less forum members) salute you for your labors.

PS: Any F* or FA* 300 owners - I'd love too see those result too, very much.

Here are a couple shots of local aviary fauna... Both pics are about 50% crops, you can see the resolution is still good. This lens is just amazingly sharp!

Please don't post anymore!
I had a DA* 300/4 in my cart at Beach Camera Wednesday morning and my finger was twitching on the buy button. My bank account was screaming NO, don't do it!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tears rolled down my eyes as I forced myself to back off.
I don't need to see any more pictures like Gene's!!!
Now if the price was $1000.........................
I can't afford it.
I can't afford it.
I want it.

Just got mine and really happy with it. Sharp, great colors, really smooth bokeh. This is cropped about 50% and sharpened a little.

Gene & Tbear, nice!!

Mike, very nice, the bird hangs in the air very 3-D like when you look at it's feet, good resolution does that...
My Tammy 70-300 could have captured that shot, but it would have been less sharp and more 'flat'.

Actually, I was selling build up liquidity for the 60-250, but then these DA 300 posters come along
and throw a wrench in the works.

(I don't really have a 300 in my cart, that was a little shot of distilled LBA for Eaglerapid's benefit

Tom - incredible shot, especially for such a tight crop.

:-).
This is all your fault Jay but thanks for the heads up:-). I've never ordered from these guys but they have pretty good ratings so I took a chance.
The eagle and wood duck pics pushed me over the edge so you guys are responsible too, lol. I was tired, just like the goose, of this quest. Endless searching on Ebay looking for a quality 300 or 400mm lens. Waiting forever for this DA* lens to show up. This was the lens I really wanted but didn't want to pay $1300 for it. I'm still not absolutely sure this is a better lens in pure IQ than a F* or FA* equivalent but I give up waiting for one of those at a reasonable price (well, a reasonable price TO ME). I did bid $925 for that recent F* 300/4.5 on Ebay and $935 won it and I'm glad that guy got it. For $200 more I got a new lens with SDM, weather sealing etc etc and a tripod collar in the case of getting a FA*. Also, originally that recent F* sold with the guy saying there was something in the lens, the last seller said he couldn't see it, but still he was selling it after a very short time of owning it............................

And you know what? I'm willing to support Pentax in buying their new lens in this case. They made us wait forever it seems but here it is. I've bought a lot of older glass in the past year that Pentax still supports and I bought a used 31Limited that didn't help the company out so I'm happy to send a bit their way. I would love to see this company thrive.

WooooooooooHoooooooooooooooooo my first * lens:-)!!!!!!!!

That is where I got mine from. I had some reservations about ordering from them, but I eventually crumbled and I am glad I did.
