At that length, f4-5.6 isn't actually that slow. At 5.6 I can shoot handheld indoors in a decently lit room without problem. On a lens that wide, shooting at 1/30 is actually pretty steady (with SR off, even). I actually find the 15mm to be a bit wide for a lot of landscapes, since it pushed the background way back (i.e. it turns mountains into molehills). I generally use it for "smaller" landscapes, utilizing its close focal distance to emphasize foregrounds. Generally I use it for interesting shots, since it makes otherwise normal shots, into odd creative shots.

Christmas is almost here. Put out the word... you might get some help...
Here's hoping, though most of my relations blanch every Christmas when I state "so, [insert loved one's name], I've had my eye on [insert bit of camera kit]..." To my family I might as well be collecting useless alien artifacts. That said, I'm not 100% sure about the length of the 77, especially for the premium. 155mm, on APS-C, seems a bit oddball. But then again, looking at the recent poll, and the shots here... I probably wouldn't be sad if I "settled" for it.

I've had her longer than I've been shooting, so I suppose she wins.

Typo or miscalculation? 1.5 crop =115mm in APS-c, right in the portrait sweet spot.

I know that many people like the 21 and, frankly, I never even tried it but there is no need for that because the 15 Limited controls my mind

Lies in the middle of 85 and 135mm. Kind of sweep spot!

Definitely a typo. Or I took and Xacto knife to my sensor to get a bit of extra reach.

I totally agree.
I took this during lunch yesterday with the DA15 @ f/8 and 1/10, hand held, SR on: if only the people stayed still

Nail hit. The 21 is the better general landscape lens in my not-so-humble opinion, but the 15 will always have a niche; both will always have a place in my bag.

Haha. You need also to move your modified sensor 1/2 distance in front (remove the mirror) also. Huge amount of work:-)

The 15mm is more niche. No doubt about it. Lovely rendering but it is a wide with that inflated perspective. It can be dramatic, no doubt, but it requires a more practiced eye but has less of a snapshot utility.

The 21mm is more versatile and at f/4+ is a knockout. This was my last DA and I thought it would be my least used, but it has totally surprised me and now it competes with the DA40 as my most used.

You cannot go wrong with either, but I would recommend the 21mm to start a.

I freely admit to only reading the first page of post and scanning the rest. I fully agree with the above. It is also a darn fine video lens, the 21, in the right situation.

The 15 has a learning curve and does require a practiced eye. I don't own one and most likely never will. The 21 satisfied my wide angle needs with not thing not a thing to learn.

Blasphemy! You will own one, how can you call yourself a Pentaxian without the endless urge to buy every single Limited prime.
