Hi . I want to take photos of my bayonets with a suitable background. I am thinking a stone backdrop or a log The bayonet in single or groups of up to 4 wound be arranged to be the focal point. Blades and scabbard would be displayed separately The photos would then be arranged on the den wall for display

I can't resist...a Takumar Bayonet* lens will do

All joking aside, I personally would use about 50mm focal length or maybe as short as 35mm. Sharpness and contrast are important, I would expect. How does the DA 50/1.8 or DA 35/2.4 sound? Any number of quality 50mm lenses might also work. The FA 43 Limited, DA 35/2.8 Limited, FA 35/2, are also good options if you have the funds. The FA 77/1.8 Limited might also be a good option if you have the working distance.
