Somehow I think for India something wider than 18 would be great. Maybe the Sigma 10-20?

I went to India a year ago,
had a K5, 18-135, DA40, FA77 with me.

I took 90% of the photos with the 18-135 and it did really well.

I would recommend to take only a flexible Zoom (WR if possible, but for rainy days a plastic bag and tape is not the worst option) and your favourite prime for available light and somewhat special pictures --> you will be happy about every kilo you don´t need to carry around.

Had no problems with thieves or anything,
but make sure to find a secure and secret place for your SD-cards (had around 200GB of them ).

Thank you everyone! I think I've made my decision on the 18-135mm WR and 55-300MM WR. I still want the extra reach the 55-300mm offers as I will probably go on a tiger safari and will probably be returning in Africa next Year. I will bring along a fast prime but I haven't set my mind on which one yet (maybe two they are usually very light)

AquaDome: I do not use the full reach of the Bigma as often as I thought I would. My camera is effectively a K-50, well guessed!
Audiobomber: Thank you for the clarification, I was sure that lens was weather resistant. Could you image I had bought one without knowing that!

I post picture of that trip when I get back for you guys

Thank you again!
That is a good choice. I probably would have just taken the 18-55 yøu already have and save more money for the trip.

Have fun! I'm sure it will be an awesome adventure!

For Dubai, you definitely will want a WR lens for the fine sand. See my Flicker pictures of my trip to Qatar and South America. Most of my shots were done using te 18-135 WR lens. That dust in Qatar is extremely fine and the wind blows 30+ mph out on the dunes. Also notice that even the Bedouin tents now have A/C. Most have a diesel generator out back.
