The only one I can think of would be the Sigma 10-20 f/4-5.6. Its by all accounts a marvelous lens, but I opted for the more expensive f/3.5 version for the constant aperture and (much) better speed at 20mm.

I do so much night shooting I couldn't justify my saving the 50 or 100 bucks difference at the time (the 3.5 was on sale) over that extra bit of oomf.

No regrets over it either.

These Pentax lenses I've thought about but did not buy and can justify thusly:
DA 35LTD - I do have the LTD 15,21,40,70 but I also have an FA35 f2 that is super sharp, and a DFA100WR for macro so don't feel I need the 35LTD

DA*60-250 - I love my DA*300 but I also own a Sigma 70-200 OS and at f2.8 gives me one stop of light more, is internal zoom, and the HSM AF is plenty fast

Everything else is fair game

For me it's simple. The Bigma! (Sigma 50-500) I'm not a birder, I don't shoot astro stuff, I like to get close but, not that close and deep in my heart, I know I want one just for the attention.

I've been on a bit of a LBA crusade of late, with the justification that someday soon-ish I'll high grade the best
of the lenses and sell the rest. Curiously, there are some trends to my purchases:

Zooms. All of them. Their focal ranges often grab the eye and look awfully tempting. 20-40, 8-16, 150-600, etc, wow,
how great is that! Then I notice how slow they are and know how frustrated that will make me. But the final death
blow comes when I see their size and imagine that soda can on the end of my camera. No chance.

Plastic. Almost all of them. I hate the feel of plastic lenses. Yes, I know they are often stellar performers but I'm old
enough to expect anything of quality to actually >feel< like quality and plastic lenses don't provide that tactile sensation.
The only plastic lenses I own are either kit lenses or Q lenses. I came real close to purchasing the DA50 and DA35
during the recent sales. In the end I decided the $300 not spent for those two lenses would put me $300 closer to
the FA77.

Non Pentax. All things equal, I'd rather have a Pentax 50 than a Sears or Chinon or Vivitar. I know there are lots
of excellent lenses out there made by firms other than Pentax. The more exotic, like the M42 mount Kilfitt Makro
Kilar 3.5/40 or the host of old cine lenses I've acquired for the Q, the more likely I'll pull the trigger.

Sigma 70mm Macro. I already have a Tamron 90, Sigma 50 EX, and a Sigma 50 MF. I get obsessed with the great reviews, as well as the tweener focal length. I shoot a lot of flowers, and the Tamron was always my go to lens, but since I got the 50 EX, the Tamron isn't used nearly as much because the 50 is so easy to handle. I keep thinking that the Sigma 70 could be the perfect compromise, but I rarely see it used, and no way I can justify it new. If I see it used at a decent price...I might give in on this one.

Pentax 55-300. I've been seeing this lens in the Marketplace for dirt cheap (DAL version), but every time I get tempted, I remind myself how little I use my budget Tamron 70-300, or my Pentax F 70-210, and that if I ever start shooting longer FL's, that I'll want something faster like the Tamron 70-200, etc. Pretty positive I won't give in on this one.

Pentax DA 21. I've pinned my Tamron 17-50 at that 21ish range, and was perfectly happy using it on trails and hikes...but then I remind myself that I finally upgraded the kit 18-55 to the 17-50, and scored on a sharp copy. It comes down to how much better the 21 would be over the 17-50, and so far, not enough to justify.

I've thought about a pancake Industar 50mm, the 50-2 model, and decided against it. My reason for buying it would be to have a novelty. Then I read about the softness and poor IQ and I'm turned off.

Same thing goes for a superzoom like an 18-250mm or 18-300mm. The downgrade in IQ and handling isn't worth the extra range to me. Plus, these kind of lenses aren't always weather sealed. As a superzoom that would be my vacation lens, it would need to have the seals.

DA 10-17 fisheye zoom. Been tempted many times but decided to go with the Tamron 10-24 instead because I didn't think I could find much use for a specialty fisheye zoom. However, if I ever come across one being offered for a price I cannot refuse, well then...

Sigma 18-250. My DA 18-135 is great and I also have the DA 55-300 to cover the longer telephoto end. But I have been tempted to sell the DA 55-300 and get the Sigma 18-250 (or other comparable superzooms) but my DA 55-300 produces such lovely images that I can't bring myself to part with it.

Sigma 30mm (original or ART versions). Have itched to buy it for a while, but my smc-F 28mm f/2.8 and FA 35mm f/2 has kept me from pursuing it.

FA 24mm f/2. I love my Sigma 24mm super-wide II but I have always wondered if I should get a faster aperture prime at that focal length. What has stopped me is that I think I will get the Sigma 18-35 f/1.8 someday so that will take care of my needs.

DA 35mm f/2.8 Macro. My FA 35 stopped me from getting this, as does my D FA 100 WR. Still, being a limited lens, it is always very tempting...

well, yes...

DA15 & DA21 - I already have DA 12-24 and so far I could not justify this (duplicity?) purchase (no matter how tempting are the primes). My excuse is that they're not FF (so if Pentax comes with FA15 / 21 or similar, my alibi is gone...)
DA*300 - same here, I already own DA*60-250. In this case I decided to wait for specification of the announced "high magnification super-telephoto zoom" from latest line-up. Or I could dream that either Sigma or Tamron might bring to the market Pentax mount version of their new 150-600.

(Opposite example would be my purchase of FA31 which I bought in spite of having DA35 f2.8 already. I simply read about it's magic too much here in the forum.)

Many, many...
18-55mm I decided not to buy all the older versions (with older optics, or with newer optics but with plastic bayonet), deciding to go with the WR which has "everything", including quick-shift and WR.
I now believe that the proper decision would have been to buy an advanced lens straight away (the 16-45mm or the Tammy 17-50mm)

55-300mm Following the same reasoning I was about to buy the "best" kit tele zoom, but I believe I will pass, partly because of all the QC issues I'm hearing about, partly because to me it's still overpriced (but I don't want the older models -neither), partly because I believe I'll just wait for a good deal on a Tammy/Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8, making good on the "buy the advanced lens straight away" part.

I've pretty much bought what I wanted (almost to the point of financial ruin) but the been the FA* 24/2 (because I'm quite attached to my Sigma 24/2.8) and the FA* 85/1.4 (because I'm very attached to my FA 77 ltd.)

The DA70 and FA77. They are so close in focal length, that was initially paralyzed by indecision. Then, after using the DA*55 and DFA100, I realized that I could manage that gap just fine.

The da 55. I've got the 77, the da 50, plus an old f1.4 50a, and am constantly tempted by the weather sealed 55, and slightly more usable FL compared to the 77. So far though, I've managed to avoid pulling the trigger. It's just a bit too crowded in my line up around the 50mm mark, so I'd need to sell something before I could justify it to myself.

Well the DA*60-250 is one that I don't think I'll ever buy. I just have other lenses in that range and I don't see the need.

I've also wondered if I'll ever succumb to the lure of the three amigos (FA31, FA43, and FA77). I've actually shot with them rented one of them as well and I just haven't clicked with them. I shoot film and digital and have prime and zooms but I just can't see the advantage these lenses would provide.

I unlikely to buy the DA 18-135 WR too as again, I have lenses covering that range which are better.

There surely are others but I've bought quite a few lenses and sold quite a few as well.
