Is this in anyway possible?

Is it possible to mount a Canon EOS EF 35-80mm lens to my Pentax ZX-30 camera? I can hear the thuds as people are dropping like flies over this question. I do need to know. Many thanks,

Regards,

Tony

As far as I know, no. The registration distance is wrong. It is possible to use Pentax lenses on Canon bodies with an adaptor, but not the other way around.
There are literally millions of old Pentax lenses which will work fine on your ZX-30, and many of them can be found very cheaply.

+1, I also believe it's not possible this way round, but Pentax lens onto Canon is, with either adaptor or lens mutilation, but we don't talk here about the latter here.

As above, it cannot be done. The registration distance for the K mount is 45.46 mm. For the Canon EOS mount it is 44 mm. So it is not a matter of adapting the mount (even if it was possible) because the rear of the lens would be inside the camera body and could foul the mirror. (Don't ask 'What about the K-01?' ) Olympus OM and Nikon F mounts have a longer registration distance than the K mount so conversion is possible even if it is not necessarily practical. If you just have the Canon lens and want to use it for sentimental reasons, I believe there are adapters which insert another piece of glass between the lens and the camera body. But I think you could expect some image degradation.

Add to it that the Canon EF mount is larger when it comes to the diameter, so can't even get it through the K-mount. Canon use a huge mount!

Here is a site with a table of registration distances. You can generally use one makes lens (longer registration distance) on another (shorter registration distance) makes body.Since Canon has the shortest registration distance, they can use just about anyone's lenses - but not the other way around.
