I think you'll be happy the DA *55 and DA 15 limited would be my two desert island lenses.

For what it's worth, it works fine on film too. This is shot on Tmax 100 film.

So the DA*55 covers the full frame??

Apparently. There have been a number of tests which have confirmed this.

Yes. Although since it is an SDM only lens, it won't focus on most full frame k mount cameras (not sure about those with PZ contacts).

But it surely will on the maybe coming FF Ricoh Pentax. But... What if they change the K-mount with the full frame? Oh that would be so bad...

They won't change the k mount -- at least not now. Certainly the DA 55 will be fine on that.

that would be so stupid too. If they do, probably everyone here will buy a A7 and keep using it's Pentax lenses elsewhere

So, no, Pentax won't do that unless they want to commit suicide.

As others have said, the only reasonable way they would change the K mount is to provide a compact AF adapter from the new mount to K mount. Sony did something like this with e mount but it was cumbersome and not very useful.

My DA*55 has been ordered! Now anxiously waiting....
Did you get your lens yet? How is it?

I got mine and while the IQ is everything I dreamed of, it backfocuses horribly on my K-5IIs. I had to use the maximum AF correction.

Not yet. Still waiting. I'm in the Philippines, and shipping in this part of the world really takes a while.

Uh-oh, if mine exhibits the same behavior, I may not be able to use it with my K-X

Luckily, the K-x focuses better than the K-5 series.

I hope so. But all the while, I have been thinking that all focusing glitches with the original K5 have been fixed with the K5II and K5IIs, no?

I heard the K-3 AF is even better than the K-5 IIs. Well if worse comes to worst and returning it will be too much hassle, you can always use Live View.
