Disassembling Takumar 35mm 3.5 front lens element

So I bid and won on a Super-Takumar 35mm on ebay. Seller described as no fungus, unfortunately not at all true.
There's fungus all around the edges of the front lens. I requested a discount and kept the lens, planning to try some fungus removal.

Well, I got quite far disassembling the lens (let's see about assembling…).

The front element, however, I can't open. Is it possible at all?

Thanks for any tips!

Best,
J

slight fungus around the edges - wouldn't worry about it, esp on apsc

so i tried to remove the front retainer using a spanner wrench and pliers. however, that didn't work.
seems like i might need some acetone, as described here:

Where the rings holding the individual lens elements are sealed in place with a lacquer you may need to disolve this with a little acetone to allow you to unscrew the rings
well, in the meantime i managed to reassemble the lens and have been using it happily.
still, i would like to try to get rid of the fungus later.

how much acetone would i use and where exactly would i put it?
could i use nail polish remover to dissolve the lacquer?

best,
j

Forget the lens wrench, get yourself a pair of rubber gloves, the household type not the thick industrial things.
These will enable you to grip the lens firmly.
If you need to use acetone then put a tiny amount in the gap arrowed and leave for a minute before trying to loosen it.

I haven't had the need to attack an SMC K 50 1.4 so I cant confirm this but most Pentax lenses have a similar arrangement to the front lens block.

Unfortunately no. Couldn't open it and so I reassembled it as it was. Still good lens!

Nail polish remover is usually acetone with stuff added to make it smell better.
