Lens Cases

<Rant On>

The last few Pentax lenses I've bought, most notably the F4 300mm have come with the soft velcro fastener case that I have grown to despise. I wish either Pentax would return to the hard cases, or some third party vendor start making them.

Why do you despise the soft cases w/Velcro, do they just not seem sturdy enough? I kind of like 'em...

I found these cases awhile back, but I think they are pretty much a substitute for the soft velcro cases, not the hard ones.

my 2 cents--do away with all lens cases. lower the price of the lens by the price of the case. All my lenses go in my camera bag and the cases are in the closet with the origional boxes . Never have used the lens cases as the are to bulky.

I grew up with hard cases (showing my age I guess). Thanks for the link! I had seen that Lowpro made lens cases, but couldn't find any pictures. I also stumbled across these: Kinesis Photo Gear [E-Series] Lens Pouches

My 300mm lens won't fit in my bag. Besides, dropping the price of the lens for the cost of the case they provided would probably drop the price abour $2.

Get some of the cases used for the Canon L telephotos. I have seen them available on fleabay if you don't want to pay the new price.

See links below. I bought one each of these cases, used, at a local camera shop. They work really well. The bulge at the top of the first case is a great idea, it accomodates a reversed lens hood.
