Is the tamron 28-80 better than the k10d kit lens? Are they metal or plastic?
I was looking at a package deal that comes with the 28-80 and the 70-300 Tamron lenses.

Some samples with the 28-80 would be great.

Also, is the Sigma or the Tamron the better lens?

a lot of those cheap 28-80 4-5.6 or what not are exactly that. Cheap.

They do have one advantage, and that would be that because they were designed for film cameras, you won't have a problem with vignetting.

Other than that, no. These lenses are not going to be better than the Pentax 18-55.

If you are going to give up the wide angle (18-27mm), you might as well get a "pro" lens such as the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 or any of the Sigma 2x-70mm f/2.8s...
I have heard that the Tamron 70-300 is a decent lens, and I see Cameta selling that lens by itself all the time.
