or is it just my ignorance of the market?

I have been watching several listings and this one kinda took me by surprise, is this a "fair market value" for this lens?

Pentax-M SMC 400mm 5.6 MF K Mount Lens 400 Tele- 42233 - eBay (item 350060712869 end time May-22-08 19:27:06 PDT)

Thanks in advance,

Ray

I also watched that lens - had a note on the Watching page and a price to bid. Last 45 minutes saw a $300 increase. I had the same thoughts - so I clicked around a bit.

The buyer has 13 ratings, none for an expensive item, and is from Belgium.

Draw your conclusion, but I know what mine is.

Lets not forget that the wooden dollars are funney for Europeans. For us 500ish dollars aren't really that much atm.

Agree, here in the UK it's like £250-ish.So not too bad...
I'm always jealeous when I read the US prices for the lenses. Man, they're much more expensive in the UK...

prices on used pentax equipment are rising as expected

pentax is becoming a more popular name among new age photo-shopping demographic

demand for old equipment rises, ergo, the price rises,

simple economics.

I hope so. I have a FA 50/1.7 that I paid $100 for. I could sell it now and double my original investment. I'd like to see it go higher.

But did this nearly 7 year old thread really need to be revived? The world economy is almost completely flipped since this thread was started.
