I recently picked up a copy of the 80-200 F2.8 and when I attach it to either my k5 or k3 body te focal length is not detected. I get the F_ _ flashing on the camera body. It takes pictures and and otherwise appears to work. Does anyone have a similar experience? Is this indicating a bad chip? If so can this part be purchased to repair the lens? I was also wondering if anyone knows the pinouts and data format of the Pentax lens interface (just for my curiosity) ?

Which 80-200/2.8? Is the aperture ring set to 'A'?

Make sure the aperture ring is on 'A' and you might want to buff the contacts with a microfiber cloth. F_ _ usually means the lens is not communicating and / or has the aperture ring someplace except the 'A' position.
