is sigma giving us the Art 50mm f1.4?

Not gonna lie, I've found myself lusting after the sigma art 50mm f1.4, after the aquisition of my K-3 has made me aware of what a sorry state my SMC-M 50 f1.4 is in. I wasn't sure if they actually made it with the K mount, and it isn't listed on their website, but one of the Norwegian web stores that carries pentax gear has it listed, and states that it's coming in on january 13th. I hope this isn't just a slip up!

Haven't heard of any plans of a Pentax version of this lens myself

I'm certainly hoping it's more than a mistake on the website's part!

nope, and they don't intend of giving us the 150-600mm f/5-6.3 or the 120-300mm f/2.8 either, get used to it.

Very interesting, especially following the belated arrival of the Sigma 18-35 for Pentax and the similar "leak" from New Zealand (see the 4th item in that thread) that a K-mount 150-600 Sport is on the way. Is Sigma genuinely ramping up its K-mount support? And does it have a curious strategy to leak announcements through far flung markets?

I hope so. Not because I like Sigma lenses, which is true, but because this, if it happens, would reflect a revived interest in Pentax system from one of the most important manufacturer. Maybe they know - and I'm sure that's the case - much more about future Pentax cameras, and they react accordingly.

Sound hopeful. Remember that Pentax France broke the FF story.

Seems odd that they're giving us the 18-35, 30 and 35 art series but not the 50...

a) It's the latest 'Art' to be released, maybe they just made the decision to cease production of new Pentax Arts in the meantime.

b) It seems the 'Art' series is selling like hotcakes, the 50 being the latest they might just want to produce enough Canons, Nikons and Sonys first before thinking about whether to do a production run for Pentax. Especially as the 50 Art is FF ready and the other manufacturers offer FF.

If you ask me, it's b) and if Pentax announces the FF in early/mid 2015, Sigma has an additional reason to release the lens for Pentax too.

Maybe we just haven't cried loud enough about wanting it yet :P

Isn't that what Pentax users spend half of their life doing - whining about what we don't have and want? FF, more Sigma and Tamron lenses, faster AF, better video, faster flash syncs ...
