Sigma 18-35mm and 35mm forgetting about AF

1) Your opinion on the Sigma 18-35mm / 35mm ART in manual focus?

2) If you weren't worried about AF... would you consider a Samyang over the Sigma ART?

The 35mm f1.4 autofocuses just fine. The zoom obviously has issues, and it can still be a challenge to focus manually on objects in the distance unless you have a focusing screen designed for MF, in my opinion.

I think he's trying to ask which lens is better based solely on image quality.

Yeah pretty much... I tend to shoot a lot with an FA 35mm with manual focus

In ideal world somehow I'd magically be able to get an FA 20-35mm f4 with a new silent motor and WR (yeah I've looked at the 20-40mm a fair bit)

or an FA 31mm at half the price with the silent motor and WR

Why do you need the silent motor? And how about the WR?

Don't really need the silent motor... would be nice though

Some form of WR is useful though... be it WR or AW level
