Sigma 70-200, which need a re-chip to work

Hi all,
I've read somewhere that some Sigma 70-200 need an updated chip for the (CDAF only? both?) AF to work with (some? all?) Pentax DSLRs; I believe it was on dpreview but can't find the page, and I can't find much in the Lens Database either.
Would a 70-200 f/2.8 APO DG EX (old screwdrive) work right off the box with any Pentax camera, maybe including a K-01 (I know, not the best match...)? What about the HSM versions?
Thanks in advance.

Don't know about newer bodies than K5D but I have used the same sit a 70-200/2.8 EX (non DG) lens with the *istD, K10D and K7D as well as my K5 with no need to "re chip". Use also with my PZ1 film body. For me a lens is a lens is a lens. Cameras are usually made to be backwards compatible with older sies of lenses, at least for pentax

I have the 70-200 HSM II version.

When I first got it a couple of years ago, I enquired with Sigma Canada as to its inconsistent live-view/CDAF performance (K-7 at the time). They informed me I could send in the lens and they would update the chip, or firmware, at no cost to me. I never sent it in because I use it only in PDAF mode, in which the lens works very well on my K-5 II and previously on the K-7.

Older HSM Sigma lenses did not have firmware for LV CDAF because at that time cameras didn't have it, Sigma will update the existing chip with the newer firmware for free, you pay just the postage.

I know that at least some copies (most copies?) of the 50-150mm f/2.8 EX HSM II required a firmware update to work with live view CDAF. Maybe that's the lens you were thinking of?

So apparently it's only a thing regarding HSM models?
Ok, then, thanks for the info!
