K-5IIs & DA 17-70mm f4.

Been sat in the bag for over a month now ... ever since I broke my ankle in 3 places.

Results

I started this thread, so after 30 hours or so, here are the results. I only list lenses given for Pentax SLR and DSLR cameras. I didn't sort out precisely all the lenses (e.g. the various 18-55mm Pentaxes), but this should give a general idea.

Some quick observations:
  • Records supplied for 198 bodies
  • We like our Pentax lenses on 145 bodies! Some Sigmas and Tamrons and then a number of also rans total 41.
  • The most used lens by far is the DA 18-135 on 15 bodies
  • Primes on 104 bodies, zooms on 82 bodies, caps on 12
  • 50mm primes on 25 bodies
Thanks to all who played! Maybe we can do this again when the weather is nicer and people aren't using WR lenses as much.

K-5IIs w/ FA77 & K3 w/ DA21

But usually I keep my other lenses close for quick swaps. I only shoot primes so when I go, the whole family goes and everybody gets a turn. Nothing stays on too long.

How do you like using the 50 macro? Do you wish you would have purchased the 100mm instead? I'm contemplating either one right now.

I like it very much, I mainly do flower macro photos so I don't need that extra mm working distance that the 100mm will give, and some need this to do insect photos. I also use it for photographing art work with studio light (basically copy light) good focal length for the primarily larger paintings. The 50mm angle I seem to get a reasonable amount of the flower in the photo at high magnification (abstract image), sometimes using the lens not quite at or less than 1:1 is great for including the whole flower, it is also good for very sharp portraits. I don't wish for the 100mm instead as this is the mm i like, but, I do intend to purchase a 100/105mm or 90mm later on, perhaps in the Vivitar line or maybe the Tamron line. If the funds appear I'd go for the DFA 100 as well, but primarily it is the 50mm that I like, just depends on what mm you need. But all said I'm very happy with the lens build, quality/image quality etc.
