It's here!

Finally came in today, and I think its build puts the DA*'s to shame:

I took two quick sample shots, and I'm already stunned by the color reproduction. I think this ends my LBA...

Same auction, much different price. The $2500 bid was placed on accident (by a bidder unwilling to pay), so the lens went to me for much less. I wouldn't ever pay $2500 for a single lens, lol!

Wow, what a lens. Looks like a gem!

Its build definitely looks good. A bit bulky in fact.

Is Da* that inferior to this lens?

Yup, definitely a gem! Without the hood, it can still pass for a normal lens, but things get hard to handle once you put it on

I highly doubt that the DA*'s will boast metal casing...

I'm absolutely not disputing their quality (since they're not yet released), but IMO the good days of Pentax lens production are over

I'll be going on a shoot tomorrow morning, so I'll be sure to post the results & write a review for the database.

Looking forward to the review, Adam. Since there is another copy also on ebay, it works out well if I can see more magical shots from you before making up my mind to join the bidding war.

You'll love the lens, Adam

I know I've enjoyed using mine. Unfortunately, it's on its way back to Pentax because it no longer stops down properly...

I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY want it back!

Um, forgive me, but, well, what is it? I mean, I can see that it's a lens. But what lens?

Hi Will,

We discussed this lens in the other thread. It's the FA* 28-70mm/2.8
