If you feel the LBA nipping at you again, I'd like to throw the Sears 70-210 into your list of lenses to look for. It tends to sell stupidly cheap, but it shares the same glowy characteristics of the Sears 135mm (only moreso), and is a constant-aperture f/4.
You can usually pick one up for around $10-$20 if you get lucky, or even less if you get really lucky.
The lens was most likely made by Samyang back in the 80's.
The 'glow'. You can reduce/eliminate this very easily by not using the macro function on the lens and/or stopping it down. You can also half-cock the macro function to use it for some head and shoulders portraiture/other creative stuff if you feel the need.
