DA15 - 'one trick pony'. Rubbish border/corner sharpness unless you really stop it down. Nice for sunsets and interesting skies. Hit-and-miss AF.

Nice stream of shots! It's a very impressive trick for a "one trick pony".

The thing is that lots ot the time you can get the same field of view from two or three portrait orientation DA21 shots stitched together as a handheld pano, with less distortion and much better sharpness even at wide apertures ...

I tend to agree, the DA15 lack some sharpness overall... On the same day I was thinking wow looking at the viewfinder of DA15, I made a mistake with my FA77: I shoot one landscape at f/2.2. It is still all in focus because far away. Stil it is sharper overall corners to corners to have the FA77 at f/2.2 than the DA15 at f/8 or f/9.

The color rendering of the DA15 is really good. It can manage lot of color, lot of contrast, even in very difficult conditions.

Haha. Honestly, I thought so too for the longest time. It looks so different and it's so compact and it's a convo starter when people see it. But after awhile, it just wears itself out.

I got tired of people coming and saying "har har, where's your lens man?" or "this is a toy?" I know I'm probably in the minority but after while, I just didn't even bother putting it on my camera anymore and just went with the 35mm or the 43mm. It's an incredible performer, but in the end, it was a novelty for me.
This seems like an odd reason not to use a lens you say yourself is an incredible performer.
I guess there usually isn't anyone around most of the time when I'm taking photos and my dog seems pretty indifferent about what lens I use and how it looks. I love how the camera fits so nicely in my jacket pocket with the 40 mounted and I agree about its performance.

I have the *200 and tried walking around London with it. For me it seemed just that bit too long. Perhaps I should give it another go.
Well, I'm not so sure I'd walk around London with it either - the last time I was there I had my FA24-90/3.5-4.5 on the camera most of the time. But of course I didn't have my 200 or 300 at the time either.

But around the beach areas - where I live - not so bad to put the K200/2.5 or F*300/4.5 on the camera and walk around for a while.

Ah. That explains that then. The beach I can understand. A 200 in open space is just great.
24-90, now that's an interesting range - either on film or APS-C.

On APSc, that would be equivalent to 35-135; not that odd for FF.
And on FF, it started with 35-70, became 28-80 and next 24-90. But if I remember correctly, 24-90 was not that common.

I have the DA 15 Ltd, FA 28mm f2.8, FA 35mm f2 and DA 40mm Ltd. The FA 35 spends more time on my camera than all the others put together, and I rarely leave home without throwing it in the bag. The Limiteds have punchier contrast, which is nice for landscape, not so good for people.

The main reason I prefer the FA 35 is for the extra stop. It is also has the highest resolution of all these, and the best bokeh. I chose the FA 35 over the DA 35 Ltd for these same reasons, and also because I have a D FA 100, so no need for a short macro lens.

Some people say the DA 35mm f2.4 has the same optics, but I doubt that. They same the same thing about the 40mm Ltd and DA 40 XS, both of which I owned, and I can assure you, the 40 Limited is superior.

DA35 f/2.4 has the same optical formula and perform better in contra light or in resolutions on reviews globally. The FA35 is said to have better rendering through and this is difficult to mesure.

But if you would ask me the DA35 is the modern FA35 in a low cost but optimized for digital version. That so very possible that the cost cutting made it worse and that you prefer the rendering of FA vs DA (I like my FA77 ltd a lot myself) but I would say the DA35 that I own is a very decent performer, sharp at f/2.4 and fantastic in contra light.

get the FA 35 as small as the DA with FF compatibility and with f2, it is suitable for low light plus it has has great close focusing distance too
